The kids loved having Nephi come visit in January (I think… my kids were talking about it all day!) For Nephi’s visit he came with a big sac full of all kinds of fun items. He called on a child and they could come pick something from his sack and he would ask them what they knew about the item and then fill in any missing information and details. We had things like: the liahona, the brass plates, labans sword, a hammer (for building the boat), a picture of the tree of life, and a bow & arrow. Next week we have Enos coming to visit (anyone have any good ideas about what to do with Enos?… Read the rest
We haven’t had our big reveal of Nephi yet (we will be doing that next sunday), but I had a chance today to make the scripture hero clues for February. I also had some requests for a blank version so you can make up your own clues. February is Enos so I think the clues will be a bit tougher for the children to guess.
We are putting our scripture hero clues in our primary mailbox each week. For more details on how we are doing it check out this post. And then we put them up on the bulletin board (more details here).… Read the rest
Well, i’m awarding myself bonus points for getting the bulletin board finalized before February. It seems with each passing year I fall further and further behind! Is it just me? As part of the theme “I know the scripture are true” the Friend magazine is highlighting a scripture hero each month. I have seen so many cute ideas on how to use these scripture heroes. I think we decided that for our primary we are going to have a “scripture hero” clue in the mailbox each week and on the last week of the month they can guess who it is. Hopefully we can even have that scripture hero make a surprise visit to Primary that day.

So if you are a procrastinator like me (I prefer the term “otherwise occupied”) and don’t have your bulletin board done for 2016 yet, here are some ideas and printables. Really you could use these anywhere around your primary room.
So I LOVED the idea to get engineering prints (so they are super big.. and cheap) from the Mormon Home. In fact, her engineering monthly theme posters are pretty dang awesome. I also loved the idea the primary in my old ward (good old Desert Willow Ward!) used several years back where they would ask all the primary kids as they came in each Sunday to “give me 5”. … Read the rest
