I got the opportunity to host a baby shower for my lovely friend recently. Luckily hosting was among one of my few duties and some of the other talented ladies covered the food and games. I did get to take on the decorations, my favorite part :).
The theme for the shower was “birds & the bees” so I started by making this “mother to “bee” is nesting” banner. Good thing I hung the T & the H in “mother” out of order and it wasn’t noticed till half way through the shower- whoooooops! Download banner below:
As a backdrop I went to my favorite go-to streamer wall:
It’s an easy way to make a big statement on a small budget. Just use sticky tack to attach the streamer at the top, twist, and then use more tack to attach streamer to baseboard and voila:
I worked in some baby clothes as part of her gift into the decorations, another low-budget option, a 2-for-1 if you will:
Notice my banner whoopsie? Another part of her present from me was a piggy bank (I got the one pictured from walmart, but amazon has some cute ones here):
Guests can dig for any spare change in their purse to add to the piggy bank.
For centerpieces we used birdcages to stay with the birds & bees theme. I wanted to fill the birdcages with gorgeous lilys & sunflowers and greenery…but it was December… so this had to do. If you are doing a shower in the spring or summer I think it would be beautiful to fill the bird cages with some fresh flowers.
Like I mentioned, I had no part in the food but I had to share because it was DELICIOUS. And a huge hit. They set up a yogurt bar (complete with fresh fruit, granola, nuts, raisins and more):
Along with mini-quiches and donuts. Yum, yum! I’m a little sad looking at this food that its all gone 🙁 These plates would be perfect to go along with the birds & the bees theme.
I also made a “baby to ‘bee'” banner but didn’t get a chance to print it out and cut it, but I have it here for you to download as well:
