Who’s a fan of decorating your house on the cheap? Ooo- me! me! I’ve hosted a couple events at my house this holiday season and have gotten a lot of comments on my entry table so I thought I would share with my lovely readers!
So we took our annual trip up into the mountains in search of the perfect Christmas tree. There always seems to be some obstacle in our way, last year it was the pouring rain, this year it was ice. The roads were so icy we couldn’t make it too far before we decided a Christmas tree wasn’t worth our lives and we would try our luck at lower elevation. Well, we didn’t have much luck at lower elevation. And normally I would be fine with that because we have our fake tree, but this year I was determined to get something for our Polar Express party. So anyhow, we found some really pathetic looking things, threw them in the truck, and headed home (not before I gathered a few bags full of pinecones though!). After the party the trees were decidedly useless and definitely not worthy of my family room, so I cut them down and used them for parts 😉
I mixed the boughs in with pinecones and then sprayed everything with fake snow (yes inside my house! I live on the wild side…). Then I added the lights, a few red & silver bulbs, ribbon & some snowflakes from the dollar store. My centerpiece is just an apothecary jar-which I fill with all different sorts of things and use it throughout the year (similar here) filled with bulbs:
I added some of those cinnamon pinecones in there as well and the whole place smells amazing when you first walk in!
Hopefully that gives you some inspiration to “spruce” your place up a bit & get ready for all that holiday hosting!
Thank you for the tips for decor-challenged people like me!
