DIY Ninjago Table Setting
I took inspiration from both the bright colorful Ninjago colors and the oriental feel of the Ninjago world to decorate our party room. I also kept things pretty simple (by my standards 😉 ) so it’s really all pretty quick and easy to replicate! Let’s start with the tablescape-
- I started with a cheap black plastic tablecloth and an oriental table runner as a base
- For the place setting I just used cheap black and red paper products. Something like this or this could work well too.
- We also included chopsticks at each place setting
- A golden take out box with their name and some fun party favor goodies inside including a ninjago minifigure. (I added their names in vinyl with my cricut)
- A fortune cookie
- And a “ninja” drink with a lego baseplate “coaster” (I found some at the dollar store). For the ninja drinks I used some red fruit punch I found in glass bottles, wrapped them in yellow cardstock and added black ninjago eyes I cut with my cricut. I have a template for the eyes and masks included in my free printables for this party.
- For the centerpiece we used a long piece of lego tape (but you could also use several of the flat 2X? base plates) and my son meticulously added all his favorite ninjago lego minifigures to it. He took this job very seriously, tweaking it for days before it was “ready”.
- Lastly, above the table we hung black and red paper lanterns low over the table.

DIY Ninjago Paper Lanterns
I saw the fun idea floating around the internet of turning paper lanterns into Ninjago faces and had to add my take on it! Again I used my cricut to cut out the eyes and masks (template included in the free printable link) using yellow and black cardstock. First I glued the eyes onto the masks, and then my plan was to staple the masks onto the paper lanterns. I quickly learned that the paper lanterns were much too fragile for that and found that just a bit of duct tape worked just fine. I used the left over paper lanterns from this pack to create these ninjas that I hung from fishing line on 3M hooks from each corner of the room. I had to use a bit of scotch tape where the lantern attached to the fishing line to hold them in place and keep them from sliding around.

I also created a “Ninjas never quit” printable banner that I hung over the window, that is also included with the free printables at the end of this post. This banner will even work if you don’t have a color printer since it is mostly black and white. You can also see in the photo below how I used black and red streamers to tie Ninja headbands around the chairs, fun and easy little touch!
DIY Ninjago Dessert Table
The last of our decor was the dessert table! I miraculously turned sugar cookies into little ninjago faces. I am not skilled at cookie decorating. So trust me, if mine can turn out like this, yours will turn out 10X better. You will need the gel food coloring to get the true colors so you don’t end up with pastel ninjas. And I did this all just with a butter knife! So if you have any of those fancy tools like piping bags or tips- you’re way ahead of me! And you’ll want one of those gel icing coloring tubes for the eyes and eyebrows.
For the table itself I turned it in to a DIY Ninjago tablecover with plain plastic red, white, blue, and black plastic tablecloths. I only partially opened them up and then draped them in blocks over the table. I then added the homemade masks I had made with my cricut and boom- Ninja tablecloth!
I added some gold number 8 balloons, since my son was turning 8 and my DIY Lloyd. To make Lloyd- as the gold ninja- I used a piece of foam board from the dollar store, wrapped it in a gold tablecloth somewhat strategically to look like this clothing, added another DIY mask, some streamer for a headband and there you go! Made myself a Lloyd in like 10 minutes. I did cut that extra green piece on his head band with my cricut and glued that on as well.
