Service Santa, a Christmas Family Tradition

2 / 7 / 232 / 7 / 23

I want to share a simple tradition that our family has that has brought a lot of joy and Christ-like feelings during the Christmas season for us. It’s so easy for us (and our kids!) to start thinking a whole lot about ourselves during the holidays. What do I want for Christmas? How many presents am I going to get? What is Santa going to bring ME? I feel like this little tradition has helped get the focus off of “me, me, me”, at least a little, and thinking of others.

Light the World Roundup 2019

11 / 25 / 1911 / 25 / 19

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints comes out with a powerful video and calendar every December to help stay focused on serving others. You can watch this year’s video here and learn more about the #lighttheworld campaign.

I’ve teamed up with some of my favorite bloggers to share with you fun ideas and printables to help you Light the World with your family this holiday season. Check out the posts below to help jump start your #lighttheworld efforts this year!

Light the World Lunchbox Cards 2019

11 / 23 / 1911 / 23 / 19

I updated the popular Light the World lunchbox challenge this year to adapt it to the new theme “one by one”. I only made 16 cards since that’s about how many school days most kids will have in December (I believe ours have 14). You can put these in your child’s lunchbox each day (as the name suggests) and some of the things are meant for them to do right there at school. But some things (even though I tried to make it mostly independent) will need a little parental help. So you could also put it on your child’s breakfast plate, on their pillow or hang it on the fridge.… Read the rest

Light the World 2018 Roundup

11 / 26 / 1812 / 3 / 18

*I in no way speak for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, all opinions are my own*

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is once again encouraging us to keep Christ in Christmas by “Lighting the World” this December. In fact, they are encouraging us to Light the world (week one), light our communities (week two), light our families (week three), and light our faith (week four).  To do this they have released videos and other resources over on mormong.org.

Me, along with all my favorite blogging buddies that are also members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (formerly known as “mormon bloggers” hehe), have come together to bring you our best ideas and printable resources for you to help implement this wonderful objective!… Read the rest

Light the World 2018 Lunchbox Challenge

11 / 17 / 183 / 10 / 20

They are changing things up with Light the World this year! Instead of a daily theme and scripture there are going to be 4 weekly themes. I was a little relieved to hear that as I found it a tad overwhelming to do 25 things last year! We tried our best but definitely didn’t do it every day!

Light the World 2018 Lunchbox Challenge, great to do with your kids

So as I updated the popular Light the World lunchbox challenge this year, I adapted it to the four weekly themes. And the good news is there is only 5 challenges per week! Wahoo! One for each school day. You can put these in your child’s lunchbox each day (as the name suggests) and some of the things are meant for them to do right there at school.… Read the rest
