This Christmas might look a little different. And what better way to celebrate that than with a Grinch movie night & hot cocoa bar with the family. After all, it’s through the Grinch that we remember that Christmas will come without ribbons and tags and packages. Christmas, means a little bit more. And even though you might not be doing all your big holiday parties and get togethers, you can still make it a really special and fun night for your kiddos!
To make it easier for you I’ve got some free printable jar labels for all your fun little hot cocoa toppings. They are sized to print on Avery 2/12 inch diameter sticker labels, but you can just print and cut them out on regular paper as well.
I used some sparkly green paper as a backing and fun red and green sparkly ribbon. The green paper did a number on my circut cutting pad though, leaving all that glitter behind, whoops!
Fun toppings include:
- any kind of chocolate chips (especially minis!)
- peppermint in any form
- stirrers of some sort
- caramels in any form
- marshmallows of course
- whipped cream
For the table I started with a cheap dollar store white tablecloth, then I wrapped some boxes from around my house in some fun wrapping paper that was in the right colors to add height in a few different spots on the table. Finally I added that stretch cotton fake snow stuff around the table to give it texture. Wrapping paper is an awesome hack that I use ALL the time. Its so cheap and can transform pretty much any object to suddenly be the color scheme you want.
As the focal point for our cocoa bar I designed and had this awesome Whoville Cocoa & Co poster printed at Costco. I’ve made the file available so you can use it as well! If you print it as a poster board then it comes as a thick, sturdy, mounted poster that you can use as is. I also included an 8X10 version of this poster if you’re doing a little hot cocoa bar for your family.
The huge North Poles are originally from our Polar Express party. They’ve been sitting in my attic and come in handy from time to time. We made them from carpet tubes we got from the carpet store! The fun wonky candy canes I made from a refrigerator box. I just cut them out and painted them.
The hot cocoa banner I made with my cricut and lastly added the little felt icicle garland I got for a dollar or something like that at Walmart. This particular hot cocoa bar was for a Grinch themed church social, but I think it could easily be scaled down to be a fun family movie night this season!
Now I had nothing to do with the rest of the room but I took a quick picture of the tables in case you need some ideas for that as well! I thought they were super cute:
I just used a bunch of different sized mason jars for the toppings and some cheap plastic scoops like these.
To download just click on the images below to be taken to the google drive link. And please head to Instagram and give me follow, I’d love to see all the fun things you do with these!
The poster is sized at 16X20 and I had it printed as a poster board at Costco.
Happy memory making friends!
